What's New in 2014?

The Modern Hunter-Gatherer

2015 marks Ancient Pathways 26th year since we began teaching. This year we are once again offering our signature Knife-Only Survival Courses and our 4-Day Bushcraft Course. We have also teamed up with the Scottsdale Gun Club to provide one-day desert and urban survival courses over the next year.

Once more, we are looking at another busy year teaching US Military Special Operations  units in both mountain and desert survival training. Due to our teaching commitments with the military, we will only be offering a limited number of fieldcourses for the general public this season. For more information visit our course schedule which contains a complete breakdown of what we offer.

Many of our students ask about review material for practicing their skills after a course. To aid in this, we now have over 40 instructional videos on YouTube under the Ancient Pathways site. Everything from equipping your vehicle to harvesting cactus fruit and carving deadfalls is covered with more on the way.

on an Outdoor Survival Course in the
High-desert of Northern Arizona.

Tony's new non-fiction book, Life Under Open Skies: Adventures in Bushcraft is now available on Kindle, Nook, Kobo, and other digital platforms along with a print version which will be out this spring. Inspired by over twenty-five years of practicing and teaching bushcraft throughout North America, Tony recounts backcountry tales of nomadic adventures using traditional skills that have faded from the modern world. Laced with humor, insight, and nerve-wracking encounters with wildlife, sandstorms, flash floods, brutal cold, and unpredictable clients, Life Under Open Skies reveals a rare look into the
often misunderstood world of survival.

That's all for now. We hope to see you on the trail this year. In the meantime, enjoy the wild places.

Take care,

Tony and Holly Nester
